The platform encourages teens to document their journeys using their smartphones or cameras, allowing for authentic reflection without the pressures of social media. FireFly is designed to be a safe, private space where you can share your emotions and voice, and connect with others who have experienced similar challenges. Since its inception, FireFly has leveraged its influence to reach individuals across 20+ counties in Southern California, making a tangible difference in the lives of those it serves.
Our why
"Photography has always been how we express what words can’t capture. After the wildfires, we saw the devastation unfold online, families just 20 minutes away losing everything. The images were haunting, but it wasn’t just about the destruction. It was the silence behind them, the fear, heartbreak, and uncertainty. We realized that teens, like us, were often left out of the conversation and didn’t have a space to process all of it. That’s why we created FireFly: a platform for teens to share their stories through photos. Through FireFly, we can take control of our healing and find strength in knowing we’re not alone."
